Merry Christmas!

It's Christmas Eve here in Korea. It's Christmas Eve eve back home, in the Western Hemisphere. I love Christmastime and this year is no exception, but I'm feeling particularly homesick at the moment. The song "I'll Be Home for Christmas" just took its turn on my iPod's Christmas playlist, and now I'm feeling mopey and nostalgic (but mostly mopey). Regardless, Christmas is a time for remembering old traditions while making new ones, right? This year just happens to be leaning toward the new way of celebrating the holidays and, hopefully, some of the old traditions will be reinstated next year when we're (hopefully) home.

Our little Christmas tree now looks downright itty bitty, thanks to my lovely parents. They sent an enormous Christmas package last week loaded with a heap of wrapped Christmas gifts for Ken and me. You'd better believe I've had in incredibly hard time not tearing into any of them before Christmas morning, but I've refrained! Those tempting Christmas presents, combined with Ken's and my stockings--our new Christmas tradition (it's amazing how much stuff (and how much money) can fit into one stocking!)--make it feel more like Christmas at home, instead of Christmas in Korea. So, tomorrow will be filled with presents, friends, Christmas parties and Skype dates with family, all of which will distract us from the 10,000 miles that separate us from where we'd rather be. It will be good. I still miss seeing my family, though. And snow. And safe eggnog (it's a miracle I didn't die of salmonella poisoning from the eggnog I attempted to make last year).

Here's a picture of our teeny tree:
OK, a few gifts are missing here. Our tree looks more loaded now than it did earlier when I took this photo. But taking another picture is just too much work when the battery in your camera is dead and you can't find the charger....

Anyway, without further ado: Merry Christmas and Happy New Year from the McMunday's! (Ha!) Hopefully we'll be seeing your lovely faces in 2010!
