Mel and I went to Busan's underground aquarium today. There were lots of fish. And sharks. Big sharks with huge, sharp, chilling teeth. Just looking at them made my skin prickle with goose bumps and my arm hair stand straight on end. The theme music to Jaws played over and over again in my mind as we walked through the under-water-tunnel, the sharks swimming above our heads (shiver).
I remember I used to have a recurring dream as a child. It always involved a Great White shark, lots of blood and missing limbs. I'm not sure what caused those dreams (or nightmares, as the case may be), as I didn't see the movie Jaws until I was in college. There's probably some psychologically disfunctional reason for it, but I only know one thing for sure: Sharks scare me. A lot.
For $100, the aquarium trains you to swim with the sharks and the other marine life. They suit you up, hook you up to a breathing machine (for lack of a better way to put it), and throw you in the tank to swim around and experience an hour with the sharks.
I think I'm going to do it when I can afford to... and I'm terrified.
