P-R-O-C-R-A-S-T-I-N-A-T-I-O-N

In an effort not to go completely bonkers with the boredom that accompanies continual unemployment, Ken and I made a pact with one another (via Skype) to each sit down and write something today. Anything--whether it be blog posts, diary entries, short stories, or love letters to our mothers. The point of this exercise was to simply stimulate our minds in a creative way for a good few hours, instead of frying our brains reading perezhilton.com or watching soap operas. I actually felt inspired by the task and didn't think it would be a hard one to accomplish, as I seemingly have nothing else to do. That said, however, I always have a peculiar way of managing to surprise myself.

We made the pact--oh--about four hours ago. In that time, I should have had at least two blog posts, one diary entry, and a half-written love letter to Ken's mom by now, but no. Instead I've managed to do the following:
  • make two deviled eggs (yes. two.),
  • eat two deviled eggs (they were delicious, in case you're wondering),
  • run around outside with Maggie (parents' black lab) to burn off the calories from said deviled eggs,
  • print out all three of my credit reports,
  • attempt suicide over said credit reports,
  • recover from shock of said credit reports by applying for a new credit card,
  • read today's newspaper... in it's entirety.

And have I written a single word? Aside from what you see here... nope! Can anyone say procrastination? This is causing me to second-guess my decision to go to graduate school in the near future. If I can't motivate myself to write something for the sole purpose of recreation, how in the world am I going to manage writing a thesis?? Questions to ponder while I'm rotting away in Korea.

And this concludes my incredibly short writing assignment, as I have more procrastinating to do. (I willingly give myself an "F" on this assignment.)

I empathize. Here I am, reading perezhilton.com and checking blogs that are rarely updated (no offense) instead of cleaning or packing up the apartment...and I move on Sunday! Yikes!

Wow. I wish I had that much time to procrastinate. Sounds nice. (As I am writing this I get stopped with 50 billion calls!) Well, I will see you when my schedule permits. :)
