I just unnecessarily redesigned my whole blog, as I'm sure you've all noticed. Not only do I not like what I've done to this usually-neglected page of mine, I had no reason to do it. No other reason, that is, than sheer boredom. And now I'm too lazy to change it back. Perhaps tomorrow I'll feel artsy enough to destroy it once again.
In my case, boredom can obviously lead to activities that are entirely unnecessary and a little bit stupid. I know this for certain, as I've been unemployed for six whole months and have found myself staring at boredom straight in the face on a number of occasions. [Case in point (aside from my ridiculous blog makeover): I spent a good two hours leafing through a crossword puzzle book the other day, stopping occasionally to fill in the easy blanks, and then moving on. Total number of puzzles completed? Zero.] The good news, however, is that I will no longer have to stare into the ugly face of boredom for hours on end ever again, starting in a couple of weeks from now. No, sirree. Why? Because I have a job! Six months of no income finally drove me to the point of seeking employment. And I suppose the next question on your minds is: Where? (This warrants a whole new paragraph.....)
Korea!
I know I've made a huge deal in the recent past about not wanting to return to Korea, but let me tell you: Money can buy a lot of things. Including a few years of my life. When potential employers in Korea wave the promise of a hefty salary in front of my face, along with four weeks of paid vacation, I'm easily overcome by dollar signs. You can probably see them in my eyes momentarily. However, once I set foot on the airplane that will carry me a painful 14+ hours to the other side of the globe, those dollar signs will probably turn to tears. Naturally, I didn't think of that when I signed the contract. But whatever. What's another year of teaching English to kids who don't care, eating kimchi until it seeps through my pores, and drinking soju until I die of alcohol poisoning? (Don't worry, dear family members, that was a joke.)
And that's the latest scoop. No departure date has been set in stone yet (the visa process is a fun one!), but one thing is for certain: Within a few short weeks I will begin yet another year in Asia and yet another year trying to figure out what's next (trying being the key word).
I hope you like my made-over blog. (Don't tell me if you don't.)

I can understand! I must admit I'm rather excited that you're coming back to Korea though - so we can visit you when we travel there! It's been sooo long since I've seen you! And likewise, you'll have a place to stay here in Hagi, Japan if you would like to stay with us. :-)

Yes, please come and visit! And I looooove Japan, so I might just take you up on that offer. ;)
you crazy.
it will be so easy to visit if you're in Busan again. there's an overnight ferry that goes from Shimonoseki (about a 2hr drive from Hagi) to there. :-)
